I recently finished writing a book titled
Finding Face and Faith in America, published by
WingSpan
Press. It is a true story about
the exceptional challenges I faced in my personal life,
including the loss of my mother to cancer while young,
unjust persecution of my father in a soviet prison, and losing
my face to a devastating injury caused by a signal rocket.
In this book you'll also read how ordinary, culturally Muslim,
people of Uzbekistan live and go about their lives, how our
nation struggled after the break up of the former Soviet Union,
and how I learned to survive in this corrupted society right
after my high school years.
You will also learn
about how I was discovered by two Americans while I was hopeless
in a communist hospital following the massive injury I suffered,
how ordinary citizens of the United States helped me recover and
rebuild my face in Seattle, how God worked miracles in my life
when I was willing to accept his offer to do so, and how I found
my Christian faith in America, which wasn't easy considering the
Muslim background I've had.
